Forest School Overview
We are very proud that we have a Forest School where we offer sessions from Pre-School to Year 4. The sessions are within the school grounds in an area that we are constantly developing with the children. Some of the activities the children get to do include building dens, climb trees, forage and cook over an open fire, use tools to create woodland creatures, hunt for bugs and create fabulous dishes in the mud kitchen.
The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences. By participating in engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a woodland environment, each participant has an opportunity to develop intrinsic motivation, together with sound emotional and social skills. These can be developed to reach personal potential.
The Forest School sessions follow a routine that the children soon become familiar with, including group discussion, activity and explore and a final get together for reflection time whilst enjoying a hot chocolate.
In our Forest School sessions, we aim to develop confidence, self-esteem, resilience and perseverance through hands-on learning.
